The History of Valentine’s Day

Today is Thursday, February 14, 2019. The day of love all over the world. Most people have been running and will be running many errands today to make sure their beloved is greeted with warm feelings, desires, and sensations of love. On this special day we celebrate the art of love. Today, Valentine’s day is the only day dedicated to the heartbeat of love.

Valentine’s day has its beginnings due to the Roman festival of Lupercalia. Lupercalia was an ancient festival held yearly on February 15. It was conducted under the eye of a priest called Luperci. This festival of love celebrated the season of Spring. This was especially important for fertility rites, where men and women were gathered, and paired by a system of lottery. Fortunately for us, the festival of Lupercalia was changed to St. Valentine’s Day. This was the day of romance that we observe and celebrate, since the 14th century.

Happy Valentine’s Day Lovers♥
