What does that even mean? Your life is a River. Whether we make a difference in our lives or not, our lives are not stopping and waiting for our choices. It keeps moving. The key to a moving river is making sure you have resources to ride the waves. If you do not have the resources, how do you get them? Ask for them. You can work to earn them.
I will never forget my freshman year of college. Louisiana Tech University, in Ruston, Louisiana. The hardest, exciting and motivating four years of my life. I had a church scholarship and student loans. I needed more money for books. I called home to my mother. I told her I needed money for books. She said, “I didn’t tell you to go to college. You decided to got to college, so you figure it out.” I got a job working at Chick Fila, in the student union. The following year, I was a resident assistant.
That conversation would have defeated a weaker person. It made me stronger. I wrote her a letter telling her I needed to end our conversations going further, so I can become successful in college. I got a job on campus. I keep moving with my River.
I still think of that moment sometimes. I feel numb to it now twenty years later. However, I am proud of myself for not giving up. I found my life vest and keep sailing ⛵️down my river of life. Always remember that Life is a River, constantly moving and the key to moving with the river is the resources and skills to develop to learn to sail along with it.
Happy Sailing ⛵️
